Re-reading The Namesake
I’m teaching this novel again and the more I read Ashima’s character, the more of my mother I see in her. If my mother were Indian, she’d be the exact image of Ashima. Her and her “perpetual fear of disaster, ” yes, that’s my mother.

Ass. Kicked.
A former student of mine just started his own bootcamp and asked me if I’d be interested in joining. Be the all-time supporter of my kids I was all gung-ho. Today was my first day. Everything hurts. Forever. Goodnight, Tumblr.

A lovely reminder
The girls bathroom at our school has no mirrors in front of the bathroom sinks. There is only one mirror inside the handicap stall. Today, I went in there to rinse out my coffee mug. As I looked up at the white tiles that line the walls I noticed something, a phrase scrawled faintly in pencil. I leaned in for a closer look and read this: I’m sure you look wonderful :)  I never go into this...

Bah!
I am currently experiencing another low. I look at all the people I encounter on a daily basis and I listen to what they like to do, what they’re obsessed with, etc and I realize that there is really nothing that I want more than anything in this world but to be a writer. Yet, I’m doing nothing about it. I see Laz and I am envious that he immerses himself so fully and completely in his...
